Residents in the service area of Afvalstoffendienst.nl should only use approved compostable bio bags with the seedling logo in the green container.
In its update published on January 22, 2026, the provider explains that ordinary plastic bags, including liners used to keep the container clean, can contaminate GFT+E. When that happens, the waste can no longer be processed properly into products such as compost.
The practical warning is simple: even if a bag seems harmless, it does not belong in the green container unless it is clearly approved for composting.
Afvalstoffendienst also says there is a second consequence for households. If the collector sees the wrong kind of plastic in the container, or cannot tell whether the bag is approved, the container may be left unemptied.
For BinSync readers, this is a useful reminder that good separation is not only about what goes into the bin, but also how it is packed. A waste calendar helps you remember collection days, but checking the bag you use can help prevent a missed pickup and avoid contaminating compostable waste.
