Want your collection days in the Google Calendar app on your Android phone? You can connect your BinSync waste calendar directly to your Google account. You do not need to download an ICS file or paste a calendar link into Google Calendar.
Connect BinSync to Google Calendar on your phone
- Open BinSync's Google Calendar page in your phone's browser. Enter your postcode and house number, then check the collection days for your address.
- On your BinSync address page, open Calendar and choose Google Calendar. Create a BinSync account or sign in if asked.
- Follow the on-screen instructions and tap Connect Google Calendar.
- On Google's permission screen, choose the Google account you use in the Calendar app and allow BinSync to create and manage a separate waste calendar.
- Google sends you back to BinSync. Wait for the connection confirmation while BinSync adds your collection days.
The connection creates a dedicated BinSync calendar in your Google account. It does not add the collection days to your main calendar or require you to import a file.
Show the calendar in the Android app
Open the Google Calendar app and tap the menu icon at the top left. Find the BinSync calendar under the Google account you connected and make sure the box beside it is checked. Google says calendars and events in an account sync to the Calendar app on a phone or tablet.
If the calendar is missing, check that the app uses the same Google account. In the app, open Menu → Settings, tap Show more if needed, select the BinSync calendar, and turn on Sync. You can also use Menu → Refresh. Google's Android sync troubleshooting guide explains these checks.
Why not import an ICS calendar?
Some waste providers offer an ICS file or a calendar feed URL. The Google Calendar Android app cannot import an ICS file or add a feed URL directly. Google directs people to use a computer for ICS imports and new calendar subscriptions. A calendar added through Google Calendar on a computer can still appear on Android, but it takes an extra setup step.
An imported ICS file is a snapshot: its existing events will not follow later collection-date changes. A calendar feed can update, depending on its provider and Google's refresh timing. BinSync's direct Google connection handles the setup and keeps the waste calendar in your Google account. Connecting is free; BinSync Plus checks the waste provider for changes and updates the connected calendar automatically. Without Plus, BinSync does not keep checking the provider for new schedule changes.
