How to add your waste calendar to Google Calendar

Never forget to put the trash out again. By subscribing to your BinSync waste collection schedule in Google Calendar, your local pickup days (GFT, PMD, paper, and residual waste) will automatically appear and stay updated on your phone, tablet, and computer.

Here is how to set up your automatic waste calendar subscription.

Step 1: Get your BinSync calendar link

1. Go to the BinSync homepage or your local municipality page.
2. Enter your postcode and house number to search.
3. Once your schedule is displayed, click the Subscribe to Calendar or Google Calendar button.
4. Copy the unique iCal feed URL (it looks like https://binsync.nl/api/subscription/.../feed.ics).

Step 2: Add to Google Calendar (on Desktop)

Google Calendar requires you to add Webcal/iCal subscriptions via the desktop web interface. Once added on the web, it will sync to all your mobile devices.

1. Open Google Calendar on your computer.
2. In the left sidebar, find the Other calendars section.
3. Click the + (Add other calendars) icon and select From URL.
4. Paste your copied BinSync calendar feed URL into the field.
5. Click Add calendar.

The schedule will now load, and you will see your waste ophaaldagen color-coded on your calendar.

Step 3: Enable Sync on iPhone, iPad, or Android

If the new calendar appears on your computer but is missing from your phone, follow these sync steps:

For Android:

1. Open the Google Calendar App.
2. Open the side menu (three lines) and tap Settings.
3. Under your account, tap the new BinSync calendar (it may be labeled under "Other calendars" or by your address).
4. Toggle on the Sync option.

For iPhone or iPad (iOS):

Google Calendar subscriptions are not sent to iOS devices automatically. You must explicitly enable them:

1. Open calendar.google.com/calendar/u/0/syncselect in your mobile browser.
2. Check the box next to your new BinSync calendar.
3. Tap Save.
4. Open the built-in iOS Calendar app and wait a moment for it to sync.
